Government Rebates for Hybrid & Electric Vehicles

There are many benefits to buying or leasing a hybrid or electric vehicle. The obvious advantage is that you can conserve fuel. Another benefit is that you may qualify for government rebates. At our dealership, we carry various fuel-efficient models. Check out our new inventory to see what hybrid and electric vehicles are available.

Incentives for Zero-Emission Vehicles Program (iZEV)

To qualify for the iZEV program, a passenger car must have a base MSRP of less than $55,000. Other vehicles, such as pickups, SUVs, and minivans, need base MSRPs of less than $60,000. If someone purchases or leases a new all-electric model, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, or a plug-in hybrid with an electric range greater than 50 kilometres, the incentive for the customer could be up to $5,000. Those who purchase or lease shorter-range plug-in hybrids could receive up to $2,500. These incentives are applied at the point of sale so people can enjoy their savings immediately.

What Is a PHEV/ZEV?

A PHEV is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. It uses an electric motor as well as a gas engine. A PHEV can be charged at home or a public charging station like an electric model. However, it can also run on gasoline. Depending on the situation, these vehicles often switch seamlessly between the electric motor and engine. The term "ZEV" stands for a zero-emission vehicle. ZEVs include all-electric models and those that run on hydrogen fuel cells. While PHEVs aren't technically zero-emission vehicles since they have gasoline engines, they still qualify for incentives under the iZEV program.

What are the Benefits of a Hybrid Vehicle?

Because a hybrid vehicle has an electric motor that it can rely on, it uses less gas than a traditional vehicle. Many prefer to stick with hybrids because they're accustomed to going to the gas station and like this system's flexibility. They'll always be able to fill up, no matter where they travel, which brings added confidence to every road trip. Some hybrids can run exclusively on electric energy for short periods, allowing fewer emissions to be released.

What Are the Benefits of an Electric Vehicle?

An all-electric vehicle, also known as an EV, runs exclusively on electric power. It can be charged at home or a public charging station. Many drivers love the idea of saying goodbye to the gas station for good. This could be because of environmental concerns or financial ones. As we all know, gas costs can add up over time when you use a traditional engine. Since there's no engine on an electric model, it won't need its oil changed, fuel filters replaced, or spark plugs swapped out for new ones.
